Picture this: a gaggle of grandparents, parents, teenagers, kids, and toddlers, all crammed into a large log cabin, snowed in and actually enjoying each other...oh, and did I mention Great Grandma broke her ankle three days before we checked in? A wheelchair, a snowstorm, and a houseful of family? Now that's a recipe for chaos and fun! 

Well, darlings, I’ve done a lot in my mere 54 years. I’ve traveled the world, from the sophisticated hotels of Zermatt with a view of the Swiss Alps, to the rugged wilderness of the Australian Outback. But nothing quite prepares you for the chaotic joy of multi-generational travel - I’m talking great grandparents down to great grandchildren and everything in-between. Multi-generational travel is growing in popularity as families yearn for a chance to reconnect in more meaningful ways.

Multi-generational travel isn't just about filling up a vacation rental with a bunch of relatives. Let’s be honest - that sounds like a nightmare, not a vacation. Spending intentional time together forges bonds and builds relationships in ways that simply can’t be recreated at home. Crafting a memorable travel experience for a range of ages takes a little planning and elbow grease and I’m here to tell you that it’s worth the effort.  So, roll up those sleeves and let’s dig in. 

Creating an experience with the whole family is about building bonds that strengthen us.  When we spend intentional time together as a family we are broadening the love and support of our younger people as well as giving a voice to those in our family who have wisdom and experiences that cannot be shared if they aren’t given space and time for us to hear them. And parents with kids - hear me - you will have built in baby-sitters for your entire vacation. You can share the load and maybe even sneak off and have some adult time knowing your children are in the hands of other adults that love them.
